Judge Randall D. Smith of the Circuit Court says trials should not be scheduled until the emergency is lifted
Please be advised that Chief Judge Randall D. Smith of the Circuit Court has announced, effective today 6/25/2020, that inasmuch as speedy trial is tolled during the judicial emergency period, counsel should not set any trials until the emergency is lifted. We must try as many cases as possible and we are currently denying hearings in some scenarios due to lengthy timeslots dedicated to trials. If you have been provided with an upcoming time slot for a trial, we will leave it on the docket but all new requests will not be processed. If you prefer to remove a previously scheduled trial, please notify Circuit Court Chambers immediately so that we can open that time slot up.
